  • As an active member of the Washington Elementary School Community for five years I have devoted considerable time and effort to supporting the activities of our PTA. As PTA President I created a new Board Position responsible for Communications + helping our school strengthen it's reputation in the community; I worked very closely with the Washington staff redefining PTA committees, events and goals to assure that the PTA was meeting both the needs of the parent community and the needs of the School staff and Classroom Teachers, and the students.

  • I have participated in many school committees including: the Kindergarten Playground Development Committee - responsible for the expansion of our Kindergarten yard and the addition of a kindergarten play structure; the Big Toy Development Committee - responsible for the raising of over $70K to be used for the renovation of the playground and the purchase of a new play structure; the Early Bird Late Bird Task Force - responsible for the review and analysis of the Early Bird/Late Bird (staggered arrival) program in place at our 5 elementary schools.

  • As Co-Chair of Art on the Line, I helped to develop, brand and run this district wide collaboration in support of the arts in our schools. In three years we raised over $15K towards art programs in our schools.

  • I have been fortunate to volunteer many hours in my three children's classrooms from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

  • When faced with the possible loss of our school crossing guards, I worked to promote awareness in our community as to the necessity of this vital service. I was a fundamental participant in a grass roots effort at convincing not only the City Council but the Community at large that financial support was vital for the continuation of this community based service. I corresponded with Editors of the local papers, and participated in many on-air interviews with the news media in an attempt to secure financing.

  • I am a volunteer soccer coach for our local AYSO organization, coaching all three of my children's teams over the past five years. .
