Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Dan E. Andersen

Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Burlingame

This information is provided by the candidate

As a resident of Burlingame for over 32 years, I'm aware of the diverse nature of our city and its population. I believe the public deserves a Councilmember who is responsive to the needs of the community. Not one who ignores its citizens.

I want to provide balanced and open representation to the council--an ear that listens to our citizens and a voice that works to meet their needs. I believe the City Council should not create the rules and direction for our City without input and concern for all its citizens.

I also believe there has to be an easier way for citizens to communicate with their Council. Not everyone has access to the Internet or cable television. If this means holding quarterly public discussions on weekends, or creating and distributing a newsletter quarterly--then that is what must be done. The only other avenues for citizens to reach the City Council are by attending Council meetings, writing to the Council, or trying to reach a Council member by phone. We must make it easier for everyone to be heard.
