Candidate Statement

By Coralin Feierbach

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Belmont

This information is provided by the candidate
The next few years will be critical to Belmont and its financial future. It is imperative that the next Council Member be able to hit the ground running.

Belmont's Pressing Issues: Belmont is moving forward to embark upon a visioning process with our general plan update. The city will be reaching out to all residents to give them a unique opportunity to express how their city will look over the next 20 years. However, Belmont, like other California cities, is having serious financial problems largely due to the State's massive deficit. Millions of dollars may be siphoned from our cities and local school districts. Our city desperately needs an infusion of capital to create a vibrant, accessible and financially productive downtown.

Relevant Experience: Belmont is a beautiful city, full of potential in both its appearance and its people. As a 30 year resident, and having raised my family here, I have developed strong community ties. Additionally, with my own software consulting business and with my mathematics educational background, I am qualified to tackle the financial challenges facing the city. My recent Planning Commission experience will be essential in the revitalization of our greater downtown area. My experience as a City Council member and Mayor is very important for these crucial financial times.

My Goals:
1. Maintain essential services such as police, fire, road repair, sewers and storm drains;
2. Create a new downtown neighborhood, which will strengthen and diversify our tax base while creating a village-like atmosphere;
3. Develop stronger ties with our public and private schools and with Notre Dame de Namur University;
4. Enhance our playing fields and open space to provide more recreational opportunities and programs for all age groups;
5. Protect neighborhoods by addressing traffic and parking issues; and,
6. Support volunteer programs to help offset city expenditures and to provide residents the opportunity to get involved, contribute and meet others with common interests.

My broad experience in city affairs and management coupled with a proven track record of getting things done make me the ideal candidate for Belmont City Council. It is critical to elect a person with a strong commitment to Belmont's future. Demonstrate YOUR commitment to Belmont's future # vote for Coralin Feierbach on June 3.
