Public Property on Beach Blvd, the Old Waste Water Treatment Plant

By Sue Digre

Candidate for City Council; City of Pacifica

This information is provided by the candidate
This is our prime real estate on the ocean. Mori Point sold for 3 million, this ocean site deserves the same price.
this site does belong to the public. The Coastal Act, the Local Coastal Plan, state that beach front property should be given priority for the recreational use of the public.

In 1999 the people spoke and asked for a marine research center here on this Brownfield Site. Special funding follows Brown fields and marine research.

The city was crying the blues about being in financial straits and opted for an incomplete RFP for a hotel conference center. And that for far less than 3 million dollars! Inspite of several extensions to the developer, this prime public ocean site sits empty.

For over one year, I have been asking the City Council and the City Planning Commission to take control and allow the site to be used for a marine center and a public library and restaurant.

Ocean Researchers, Universities and Foundations would relish an ocean front opportunity. Grants are available. this is a Brown Field and with it comes funding.

Libraries come with funding. The libraries of the 21st Century are built with restaurants, another source of revenue.

How heavenly can it get, to be able to relax in your own coastal town , over looking our stretch of the majestic Pacifica Ocean and day dream and read. And the land is ours!!

In 1999 a plan was presented for a Civic Center and Mixed Use Development.

Today, today is when we need a tax base.

Today, we would like the right to take ownership of our ocean real estate. I have been singing this song since 1999.

If you believe it is time for the public voice to be heard again for this site, vote for Sue DIGRE
