MATTHEW T. DEAN

Matthew Dean was first elected to the Campbell City Council in November 1996 and subsequently re-elected in November 2000 to a second 4-year term. He served one year as Vice-Mayor in 2000 and one year as Mayor in 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, and both a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science Degrees in Computer Science from California State University at Chico. Matthew is also an inventor and has 7 U.S. Patents and a number of additional patent filings. Matthew is currently pursuing his MBA through San Jose State.

  • 20% Housing Committee (Redevelopment Agency)
  • West Valley Solid Waste Authority JPA (Past Chairperson)

Professionally, Matthew has held numerous individual contributor and management positions at TRW Vidar, ROLM, IBM, Siemens, Compuware and XACCT Technologies, Borland, Macrovision, TradeBeam, CDC Software and Aptean.

Matthew has been married since 1985 to his wife Jayna and they have 4 children, all attending public schools. Jayna is a Registered Nurse who works for Kaiser in the Milpitas Clinic. All of our children graduated from Del Mar High School. Our oldest daughter Jennifer swam for 4 years at WSU and is now married and attending law school at U.C. Hastings. Chris graduated from University of Idaho and is wild land Firefighter and applying to local police departments. Whitney graduated from Seattle University with a BS in Nursing, passed her boards and is now a nurse at Seattle Children's Hospital in Seattle, WA. Lance Sachara (a young man who joined our family and subsequently graduated from Del Mar is in his Junior year at California State University, at Chico majoring in Political Science and Courtney is in her third year at San Jose State University majoring in Child Development.

Matthew loves sports and is also a private pilot. He donates time to a variety of organizations and serves as the Vice President of EDGE (Explore Develop Grow Empower) youth leadership organization. Lastly, he with the help of his father and the patience of his wife built his family's home.
