Leadership

You lead by example. When times are tough, a leader is the first one to take a reduction or forego an increase. A leader thinks outside the box and welcomes critical minds and critical questions. A leader is focused on the common goal that is shared by the organization. Specifically we need to:

  • Eliminate free medical benefits for our board members
  • Link administrative pay to academic results and administrative performance

Communication

In our district we need leaders that lead by example and communicate effectively with our students, their parents, our teachers, our feeder districts and boards, the business community and our civic leaders. You use letters, flyers, the school newspapers, the school's automated call out systems, email and public service announcements on radio and television. We must take the following specific actions:

  • Reschedule school board and budget meetings at parent friendly times
  • Make board agenda packets available on-line so the public can be as prepared as the board on agenda items
  • Put the Bond Oversight Committee reports on-line for the public to review

Education

Our education system is a key component of what makes our society different than every other society in the world. It is not a failure, but rather has been a roaring success. That being said, there are still many places and many things that can be and should be improved. We must never rest on our laurels, but rather need to redouble our effort and continue to improve our educational system. Specifically, we must:

  • Ensure that Advanced Placement (AP) programs are available at all schools equally
  • Protect and maintain our Music, Drama and Band programs.
  • Review and share data with our feeder districts down to a named student level.
  • Provide for a smooth and coordinated articulation for our students, educationally, athletically and socially
