I was born and raised in Northern California and attended public school in Fair Oaks through High School. After high school, I attended Fresno State University, and earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Safety Studies from Sacramento State University in 1993. I married my husband, Derek, in 1989 and we chose Placer County as a perfect place to raise our family. We have lived in this county for 23 years. We are blessed with a wonderful community of friends and four beautiful children to nurture to maturity. I currently work in the cafeteria at Del Oro High School providing nutritious meals for our students.

Our oldest two children were born with a rare physical disability which added some challenges in the early years of their childhood. The one thing we wanted them to understand was that no matter what life deals us, we can make the best of it! I wanted to see them rise to the challenges and be the best they could be. With their physical limitations, they most likely will not end up professional athletes, but we helped them discover things that they were naturally good at and encouraged them to contribute time, energy and effort with a positive attitude in building upon those strengths, and growing stronger in their weaknesses. I believe that is the attitude we need to educate a healthy generation of students as well. My parenting experience and meeting the needs of children with developmental challenges has made me a stronger, more compassionate person, who is willing to look beyond just physical or academic ability and support a whole-child approach to education.

I bring to the table 10 years experience working in the classrooms in our district, nine years experience as a home-school educator, my current work experience in the school cafeteria, and a passion for the importance of a quality education.
