Top 3 Challenges Facing the Eastchester School District

By Paul S. Cubita

Candidate for Member, Board of Education; Eastchester Union Free School District

This information is provided by the candidate
  • Working to continue to provide the highest quality, well-rounded responsible education in these very difficult economic times. Maintenance of curriculum, classroom sizes, facilities, providing sports and extracurricular activities is very challenging. The District needs to continue enhancing the education of our students, despite the tight economy of today.
  • Sustainability of the public education provided by the District. Taxpayers bear the burden of public education funding in Westchester County and unfunded mandates continue to grow. All resources must be re-evaluated to determine the most efficient and economical ways in order to continue providing the highest quality of education for all students.
  • The Eastchester School District student population continues to increase each year. The majority of this growth is now in the middle school and high school. The lack of adequate classroom space for the increasing student population is challenging. A proper atmosphere and setting are essential in providing a well-rounded education. Graduates of the Eastchester School District should be equipped with well-developed skills to face the challenges of higher education and grow to be mature, responsible and conscientious citizens in our community as well as in society.
