I am a 35 year resident in the District. I am involved with the Menlo Park Fire Protection District through CERT training and amateur radio communications My first experience was fighting forest fires in 1952; was part of rural volunteer fire department from 1955-1959. I have been a certified CERT instructor for over 20-years teaching for the City of San Mateo for 12 years and teaching non-profit organizations and Faith Based Organizations (FBO) in San Mateo County for 7 years with Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disaster (CARD of SMC).

Making and enforcement of the District's policy and budget; policy review and promoting public education in safety and emergency preparedness. Maintaining direction and strategic planning for the District. I also believe that the Board should NOT be micro-managing but empower Operations (the Chief) to operate. I believe the Chief should be running the District and overseeing the day-to-day operations. I would expect any Chief to have the respect of the personnel they are in charge of; be accountable and honest to the Board; be ethical and moral.

- The Board should be actively seeking grants. I will need to educate myself with the financial statements, budget and attempt to determine what expense areas might be acceptable to decrease while exploring avenues of increasing revenue.

I believe this would be an excellent way to conserve budgets and serve the taxpayers of San Mateo County. The District has proven that one agency is capable of serving more than one city and still providing mutual aid when called upon. Consolidation of services has worked very well for parts of the military.

I would have to choose this "battle" on an individual basis.

Blackberry REACT, Inc SCARES Nine Lives Foundation First Baptist Church of Menlo Park Neighborhood Watch/CERT (Captain)

San Mateo County Labor Council Menlo Park Fire Fighters Assocation Chamber of Commerce * Menlo

I belive the District is already organized.

I would have to choose this "battle" also on an individual basis.

PAARA AEC for Atherton, Menlo Park & E.Palo Alto

1. Combining Administrative and/or Support for South and West County Fire Departments;
2. Adjusting Fire Fighters Pensions to gain a better rate of growth for the Fund;
3. Not using the press nor media to "air" issues prematurely. All media could go through a PIO. The District uses ICS...the Board should, also

This is my first experience in the field of "politics". I would seek guidance from organizations and community members that would support my endevor. I would hope to approve of any actions taken so I would be accountable, not an organization

I am looking forward to this life-experience and am committed to improving the District and serving our community..
