Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Karyl Matsumoto

Candidate for
City Council; City of South San Francisco

This information is provided by the candidate

Whether you are the mayor or a council member, it is important to remember "it takes 3 votes to set policy". I am a consensus builder with no personal political agenda. Our Fire Chief says it best, "for the greater good."

By virtue of my sitting on various regional boards, I have been instrumental in bringing millions of dollars to South San Francisco for public works, housing and park projects. Diversified revenue streams allows us to ensure quality public safety and city services that are integral to a healthy and vibrant community.

The next couple years are going to be challenging. Many predict that our financial situation will get worse before it levels out and we can return to a good and balanced way of life. I believe that prudence, judicious fiscal accountability and responsive government are the best mechanisms to get us there.

Children are the future of our great city whether they wish to become academics, scientists, business professionals, skilled trades people, etc. We are the birthplace of biotechnology and we need to partner with the School District to assist them in providing the best possible programs and opportunities for the children to reach their potential.
