1. My name is Brandt Grotte

2. I am a candidate for re-election to the San Mateo City Council.

3. My address is: 708 Rand Street, San Mateo, CA 94401

4. I am a Global Environmental Safety and Health Manager for a company supplying products to the semiconductor industry. My company operates in multiple locations in the US, Europe and Asia. Operating in these multiple locations gives me a multicultural understanding that I can apply in our diverse City. I am responsible for balancing the safety and welfare of people with the company's needs. I also maintain complex environmental and safety management systems of the highest standards. I will work to apply this knowledge as a Councilmember to continue improving our wonderful City.

5. My civic activities have included: founding member Shoreview-Parkside Neighborhood Association (including multiple Presidencies); representative to San Mateo United Homeowners' Association (multiple Presidencies); the successful campaign to vote in a flood assessment district to remove the tidal flooding hazard; I was instrumental in Shoreview-Parkside's work to remove flooding hazards and improve the street and walking experience around the Shoreview Shopping Center and along 3rd Avenue; I have also worked to promote single family and duplex neighborhood protection; I have been involved in numerous neighborhood enhancement and preservation activities through many other neighborhood associations.

8. I have resided in San Mateo and been a taxpayer in San Mateo for 23 years.

9. As your re-elected Councilmember in these challenging economic times I will work to maintain the City Services that the voting public has identified as priorities. While this will need to be a balanced approach, I will work to maintain public safety and maintain other services that the public values as much as possible. This must be accomplished while having a balanced budget. We will weather these times and when possible I will work to responsibly improve our financial well-being, our quality of life and our neighborhoods.
