Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Charlie "Charles Bronitsky" (Bronitsky) Bronitsky, Charles Bronitsky

Candidate for
City Council; City of Foster City

This information is provided by the candidate

I am often asked why I am running, but I think the better question is why am I the best candidate.

I think the answer to that can best be seen when comparing my record to the record of the other non-incumbent candidates that are running for City Council.

I have spent nearly a decade of my life working to raise funds for, contributing to and working with people in need in Foster City. I have done that as a member of the Rotary Club of Foster City. I have raised money for and personally worked to improve the lives of Foster City seniors, to provide student scholarships, school improvements, school supplies, to support services provided by our police and firefighters, to improve our parks and to keep Foster City a great place to live.

Over the past nearly four years I have been a member of the Foster City Planning Commission where I was Chairman last year. In that role I have worked to bring a senior living facility to Foster City, I have worked to study traffic impacts on development in Foster City, I have worked at requiring developers to invest millions of dollars in Foster City street improvements, I have worked at establishing affordable housing so that our police, firefighters, teachers, city employees and local employees can have an affordable place to live in Foster City, I have worked to manage growth in Foster City so that it does not adversely impact on current residents and I have worked to bring environmentally responsible, "green" housing standards to Foster City so that as we grow we grow in an environmentally responsible manner.

I also enjoy extraordinarily broad-based community support. I have been endorsed by State Assemblyman Jerry Hill, by San Mateo County Supervisors Carol Groom and Mark Church, by all four remaining City Council Members - Rick Wykoff, Linda Koelling, Pam Frisella and Art Keisel, by the entire Foster City Planning Commission, by former mayors Marland Townsend, Deborah Wilder and Owen Bramlett and by dozens of other people who have been community leaders in Foster City for many years. I have been endorsed by the San Mateo County Daily Journal, by the San Mateo County Labor Council, by the San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council, by the San Mateo County Democratic Party and by the San Mateo County Association of Realtors. As one person said to me, my endorsements are a veritable "Hall of Fame" of people and organizations committed to Foster City. Why have these people and organizations supported me? I think it is because they believe that I am the best candidate for the job.

So why am I running? I am running because I love Foster City. I have never had any political ambitions and this is not a stepping stone for me to anywhere else because there is nowhere else I desire to go. I also have nothing to promote and I am not running to support any special interest. I am running because I am committed to Foster City and I believe I have an obligation to use the skills I learned in serving Foster City over the past years to help it with the important issues it will be facing in the coming years.

I urge you, as a responsible voter, to compare my qualifications and my passion for Foster City to any of the non-incumbent candidates. It is that comparison that you should use in deciding whom to vote for on November 3. I believe that once you have made that comparison you will make the decision so many other of my supporters have made, and decide to vote for Charlie Bronitsky on November 3.

Thank you.
