Professional Experience: I have over 30 years of professional experience as a librarian and manager in corporate information centers, public and technical libraries, and in market research groups. During those years, I was an employee of the Palos Verdes Library District twice. In 1974-1977, I was a reference librarian on the staff working mainly at the Malaga Cove library.

Most recently, I was Interim District Director July 2003 through January 2004. My tenure as Interim Director gave me a clear understanding of District operations and budget.

Volunteer Experience: I have been a District volunteer for the last ten years. I was a member and Chair of the Peninsula Center Library Advisory Committee from 1999+2003. During those four years, the PC LAC put on over 60 programs, including starting the Holiday Music series that continues today. We also developed an outreach to the Asian communities on the Hill, producing a festival for Chinese New Year, a Japanese Cultural Week and a Korean Festival in three successive years. I was also a member of the successful grant writing and implementation team for the California State Library Partnerships for Change Grant in 2001-2002. As a volunteer and a Trustee, I have participated in all of the District's strategic planning efforts since 2000.

Trustee Experience: These last four years as a Trustee have been the most rewarding of all of my connections with the District. They have given me the satisfaction of contributing to the District in new ways

  • by making policy,
  • overseeing and approving the budget,
  • bringing community concerns to the District
  • by supporting the Director and the staff as they move forward to meet the current challenges.

Residence: I have resided in Rancho Palos Verdes since 1972. My two children went to Palos Verdes schools and, of course, used the Palos Verdes Library District frequently during those years.

Memberships: AAUW, Coordinating Council, League of Women Voters, Peninsula Friends of the Library

Education: M.L.S. [Master of Library Service] from UCLA and B.A. from Smith College
