You Have My Commitment That I Will:

Support the County's Sewer Process

  • The community needs to be actively involved in, and supportive of, the County's sewer process and the preservation of our 218 assessments. I have been honored to share my professional expertise and personal commitment to the community by serving on the Technical Advisory Committee of the Los Osos Waste Water Project.

  • We must be proactive in working with all of the involved agencies to assure that the conditions set for the construction and operation of the sewer treatment system are fair and equitable for all the residents of our community.

Work Diligently to Resolve the District's Bankruptcy

  • The CSD has the responsibility to provide basic public services to the citizens of Los Osos, Baywood Park, and Cuesta-by-the-Sea. The CSD needs to be fiscally responsible in its daily operations while restoring long-term operating reserves.

  • We need to initiate accountability standards and performance-based management systems with the CSD to help reduce our administrative costs.

  • Litigation that is not directly related to the services that the CSD provides must be stopped.

  • How we address these issues will impact everyone's personal finances. We must address the costs of services that could make living in Los Osos difficult, if not impossible, for those on fixed incomes and those with lower wages.

  • It is essential that our CSD address these challenges with integrity in an innovative, candid, realistic, and responsible manner.

Manage our Ground Water Resources

  • Los Osos relies on water pumped from its underlying groundwater basin for its drinking water. Our lower aquifer is currently being threatened by saltwater intrusion. In order to protect the quality of that groundwater, the District must implement a comprehensive water conservation program.

  • We need to identify and implement appropriate water conservation measures that will help each and every one of us reduce our consumption. Many of these measures can be implemented immediately through an educational program without a significant financial impact on the residents of our community.

Regain Control of our Emergency Services Tax Funds

  • While solving our waste water, drinking water, and fiscal challenges are high priorities, I am also very concerned about the level of emergency services in our community.

  • We must regain control from the County of our emergency services tax funds which will allow us to restore local control so that we can assure that the residents of the community will receive the highest levels of service.

Expand Recreational Opportunities

  • Our greenbelt and parklands are valuable assets that must be preserved and expanded.

  • I believe it is in the best interest of the community for the CSD to work with the County to increase the amount of monies allocated for parks and recreational programs in Los Osos.

  • We need to pursue all sources of grant monies to support expanded recreational opportunities for our community.

Restore the Trust

  • Los Osos deserves a congenial and hardworking board that approaches each issue with intelligence, integrity and determination, and bases its decisions on the will of the people it serves.

  • I intend to serve the community by working hard to create a CSD board that is open and responsive to all and place a premium on protecting our social fabric as well as our environment, both of which make Los Osos our special place. Every decision that I make will be based on affordability and sustainability.

Conclusion

  • I need your help. I can only succeed with your support. I need your input, time, energy, and financial support today. Please visit our website at http://www.restore-the-trust.com for ways that you can help.
