Election 2008: Los Osos Community Services District candidate endorsements

THE TRIBUNE ENDORSES MARSHALL OCHYLSKI

Marshall Ochylski's background in law and land-use planning, combined with his experience on the environmental subcommittee of the sewer project's Technical Advisory Committee, would make him an excellent addition to the board of directors.

As a 30-year-resident of Los Osos, Ochylski has lived through the ups and downs of the various sewer proposals, and that's given him an awareness and sensitivity to the community's concerns.

Like Kelly, Ochylski supports the county's efforts to build a sewer, and adds that the sewer should be as affordable as possible.

He's also a big proponent of water conservation. He points to Nipomo as an example of a community that has a strong conservation program that could serve as a model for Los Osos.

Ochylski acknowledges that restoring trust in the district will be one of the board's toughest challenges.
He believes the community deserves a congenial and hardworking board. We like that philosophy. While board members may not always agree -- indeed, a constituency is often best served when political leaders bring a variety of views to the table--they should be able to disagree without being disagreeable.

Bottom line: We like Ochylski's ability to cut to the chase when describing problems and solutions. We also believe his background in law and planning and his experience in dealing with various regulatory agencies will serve Los Osos well. We strongly endorse Marshall Ochylski for Los Osos Community Services District board of directors.
