I would like to introduce myself. For the last 11 year I have called Escondido home. I had been living in Del Mar on the coast, and when my wife and I purchased our home we decided to move our business inland. We discovered Escondido almost by chance and were surprised at the wonderful climate and how different it was from the coast. It was a joy to see the wild life and have a home with enough space to enjoy growing our organic vegetables and fruit. How could anyone not like a place where the dry cleaner is called the "Twinkle Tub Laundry"?

We located our business in the heart of downtown at West Grand and Broadway and have built a large International Client base over the last 10 years. We love the small town atmosphere in the Downtown area and the feeling of being in the country at our home.

Born in England I immigrated to Canada where I worked at Bell Northern Research as an engineer on product design. I was transferred to the USA, and after working my way through the long process of immigration and naturalization, became a US citizen in 1990. I developed a full understanding of the difficulties of moving to this country.

My career with different companies in Executive Management took me to six different states in the USA, and three times around the World, so I gained an insight into the cultural breadth of this wonderful country and how unique each area is, as well as the experience of running large diverse public and private companies

I feel that Escondido has enormous potential and would welcome the opportunity to help move the City forward. This is our chance to enhance the image of our City and attract new business to provide high level jobs and tax revenues. It is the opportunity to make our downtown area a vibrant destination location to which people are attracted. It is the challenge of developing long range plans and funding that will provide for growth in an orderly fashion with the infrastructure to support it. It is my hope that we can guide the City to a bright future with reliable sources of water, power, sewer systems, and reclamation that will provide a solid foundation for the future.

Our City needs to be free of gangs and the culture that breads them, I would engage all ethnic groups to combat this and put in place a system that assists people of all economic levels reach their highest potential.

In immigrating to this country I have been able to achieve more than I had ever dreamed of. I would welcome your vote, so that I can help others achieve the same for themselves.

Vote Richard Barron for Change with Integrity.
