I am a long-time resident of the Hemet/San Jacinto valley, having lived here since I began my teaching career in 1964. In the course of my secondary teaching career at Hemet High School, I taught nearly every Social Studies course offered, in addition to Math, and P.E. I served as ASB advisor, and coached both Track and Field and football. After a 41 year teaching career, I retired in 2005. After my retirement, I continued to coach football and track at Hemet High School, I have been a substitute teacher, and I am an instructor in California Interscholastic Federation coaching certification.

While at Hemet High School, I was fortunate to have a highly successful and fulfilling career. Now that I am out of education as a teacher, I want to give something back to the District and the community.

I have acquired knowledge about District operations, its successes and problems, from many sources over the years. I have an extensive knowledge of labor relations, contracts, management concerns and K-12 employee issues through my work with the Hemet Teachers Association. I have worked with building and District level personnel, dedicated teachers and classified employees, motivated students and concerned parents. I understand how students learn and the problems they experience both socially and academically.

I know the Hemet community well: I have lived and taught here since 1964, my wife of 26 years is a long-time teacher in the district, and our 4 children all attended Hemet schools and graduated from Hemet High School. I believe that my extensive background in education qualifies me to be an effective policy maker for HUSD.

I would appreciate your vote on November 4th.
