Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Kathryn Slater-Carter

Candidate for
Board Member; Montara Water and Sanitary District

This information is provided by the candidate

My philosophy to find the best, long term solution for the residents of our community at the lowest economic cost.

This is achieved by listening, researching, reflecting, and evaluating the information gained.

Our community is made up hard-working folks like you: moms, dads, sons, daughters, grandparents. Folks who work hard, pay your taxes, and expect government to do what it promises. You want to know that the job will get done, and you want it at rates you can afford.

You don't want to worry about whether sewers will get waste-water to the sewer plant. You don't want to think twice about whether your recycling will be picked up. And you shouldn't need to worry about whether there will be enough high quality water. I am proud that the recent improvements to our water system has resulted having enough water so we did not need to have a restriction on summer water use.

My job is to make sure those services are taken care of, at the most reasonable price possible. While we inherited high water rates with the purchase of our water company we hve done our best to control increases to our rate payers. One rate payers told me last week, "I looked at my water bill from six years ago and it has hardly gone up at all". As a board member my job is make sure we have long-term plans and the resources to enact that plan with sound financial planning. The plan comes from what you and the other folks in the community want.

I have successfully done this for the last 12 years. I will continue to do it as we continue to make all the services provided by this district serve your needs in addition to meeting the regulatory requirements, with affordable rates, better pipes, pumps and storage tanks, and, of course, critically needed new water supplies.
