Please support Ken Coverdell for Water Board

By Kenneth Lee "Ken" Coverdell

Candidate for Board Member; Coastside County Water District

This information is provided by the candidate
I hope you will support me in my re-election this November 6, 2007. I have worked hard to keep the efficiently managed water district on the same positive course started over fifty years ago. This course is one of protecting the quality of the water delivered as well as the integrity, condition and safety of the delivery system.
As you are most certainly aware, there are three positions up for election this November 6. Three incumbents, including myself, are running to be elected. I am running for a four year term. I have worked hard to get the pipeline replacement projects and the active pursuit of the Capital Improvement Budget back at the top of the CCWD board's priority list.
I have personally worked hard to;
Assure adequate fire flows to all areas of our district
Assure the completion of the Crystal Springs Project which includes the El Granada pipeline replacement and the Carter Hill pipeline replacement project approved in 1985.
Assure funding the largest possible Capital Improvement Budget to replace our worn system.
Assure the highest possible spending level to keep delivery system replacement projects at the top of the Capital Improvement Project list.
Assure the most stringent adherence to water quality control.
Assure that water cost as little as possible, without large rate increases in any one year.
Assure that unused capital improvement funds be spent in the current year by moving other improvements up on the schedule.
Assure that we do not end up with a severely antiquated system.
Assure that we constantly look to develop local water sources to meet our contractual obligations with San Francisco Water District (SFWD).
Assure that we do not become overly dependent on SFWD and the Hetch Hetchy water system.
Assure that we protect the environment and fisheries in these efforts.
Assure that our system is earthquake prepared.
Assure that we continue looking at grey water and water re-cycling to provide other sources of local water.
Assure that abandoned-by-law wells are utilized to water atheletic fields and school sites and are not capped off.
Assure that the most modern means to read meters, bill customers and monitor water use through the re-computerization of the district.
Assure that the staff is rewarded, encouraged and directed to maintain the highest quality of service in providing our water efficiently.
Deal fairly with all requests of the Board of Directors.
Act to protect the interests of you, our customers.
