My priorities

By Catherine Bonnar

Candidate for School Board Member; Belmont-Redwood Shores School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As the school district faces the ongoing challenges of its recent rapid growth, I want to continue to ensure quality programs and to provide the best possible education to all of our children.
I am committed to:
  • Continued academic excellence through a balance of strong core programs, mastery of basic skills, rich elective choices and first rate teachers
  • Prudent use of district funds to meet the challenges of increasing enrollment in a time of limited revenues
  • Maintaining student safety across the board, including emergency planning, improved school traffic flows, constructive conflict resolution programs and student counseling
  • Active oversight of construction of a second elementary school in Redwood Shores
  • Fully involving parents and the community in district policymaking
  • Strong visual and performing arts programs
  • Strong math and science programs
  • Positive, forward-moving relationships between the school district and the cities of Belmont and Redwood City

I am supported by a wide cross section of our community because I:

  • Have been an effective leader on the School Board
  • Have a history of commitment to our children and to the district
  • Listen and am responsive to the concerns of parents, teachers, and the community
