By Jeff M Newsome

Candidate for Member of Congress; California; Congressional District 50

The only long term, common sense, welfare reform plan
Welfare Reform

The Democrat sponsored welfare state has not truly helped those it serves. Instead it has created a class of people who have become wards of the State. Sergeant Newsome has worked in the San Diego's poorest neighborhoods. He has helped children living in miserable poverty. Now, he will do whatever is necessary to put people back on their feet so they too can enjoy the promise of this great country.

  • Enforcement: Welfare Fraud Investigators must be allowed to work, not restrained by a system afraid to the hurt feelings of the criminals who rob us, and their fellow recipients, of funds meant to help those most in need. Sergeant Newsome will pass legislation to free the hand of welfare detectives.
  • The Norplant device is a safe, proven, and one hundred percent passive birth control method. It consists of five tiny sticks inserted under the skin of the upper arm that distribute time released progesterone for five years. Sergeant Newsome will pass legislation to encourage first time welfare mothers to participate in a voluntary program to receive the Norplant device in exchange for a small stipend. Participating welfare mothers will receive head of the line privileges for education and job training programs. Ultimately, Sergeant Newsome's law will result in less welfare expenditure, lower jail populations, happier families, and lower taxes.
