PERSONAL:

I was born in San Francisco and I have lived in the Bay Area most of my life. I graduated from McAteer High School in 1984 and went on to complete a degree in Engineering from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. I then accepted my first professional job with the Department of the Navy. I spent the next few years at the Naval Warfare Center in China Lake, CA. As a young engineer, I was exposed to a number of interesting projects but my work focused primarily on aerodynamic design and rocket propulsion.

Soon after the end of the Cold War the military's efforts were cut back. I chose that time to continue my education and develop the management skills I needed to keep my career moving. I attended the University of Rochester and completed the MBA program in 1995. I was recruited by Wells Fargo Bank and returned to San Francisco that year. During my first year at the bank I gained invaluable experience not only in business administration but also in how to motivate people and manage change.

My work at Wells Fargo eventually took me to Houston, TX after the merger with First Interstate. While in Texas, I met my future wife, Sandra. A year later Sandra and I were married and we remained in Houston until the birth of our first son. At that time I found a job opportunity that brought us back to the Bay Area.

Sandra and I have been married for eight years now and we have two sons. We have been parishioners at St. Robert's Catholic Church since returning to the area and attend mass weekly.

EDUCATION:

I received a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1989. While at Cal Poly I participated in several student organizations, and served as an officer in SHPE. I also volunteered in several programs including tutoring for Upward Bound and the Minority Engineering Program.

In 1995, I received a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Rochester's William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. My emphasis was on the management of Operations and Information Systems. During my first year in graduate school I was elected as a First Year Representative on the Graduate Business Council. While living in Rochester, I participated in Habitat for Humanity projects and park cleanup projects.
