Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Town Council election is upon us. There are four candidates vying for three positions.

At the Candidates Night on Nov 4th, all four candidates supported preserving the rural character of the Town. All four said they supported fiscally conservative policies and expressed a desire to improve our sense of community.

There are, however, important differences. Three set SallyAnn apart:

1) Skills and Knowledge: SallyAnn has practical business experience in the areas of communication, finance and public relations. In their endorsement, the San Mateo County Times said "Her financial acumen would be a real plus for the council at this time, when funding issues are paramount."

2) Proven Dedication to the Whole Community: Sally Ann has been active for years in various community groups including those for the Schools and those for the all Town residents. Her volunteer experiences are broad and have served all generations and interest groups. From being the chair of the Town Annual Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Party and the Town Picnic, to her spearheading the `Save the Little People's Park' group, her leadership is community wide. Endorsed by the Palo Alto Daily, they stated: "She has attended practically all Town Council meetings during the past two years, so she is well grounded in what are the major issues in town."

3) Improved Government Accountability and Communication: Sally Ann is not content with the effectiveness of the past Town Council's performance on finance and project issues. She is concerned that the Town government's inability to build consensus has lead to division amongst its residents. As quoted in The Almanac, "When there is change, you need to over-communicate, she said, adding that the council's ineffectiveness on this score has eroded trust in the community." SallyAnn pledges better communication and a government that is open and accountable.
