My first reaction for this section was to repeat many of my accomplishments and goals - information that is already provided in other parts of this presentation. In order to prevent redundancy, and to be a little different, I'll state what I truly feel is my "political philosophy."

Many times I have winced when someone referred to me as a politician. Maybe it was because we have grown to despise the rhetoric and broken promises of many of our elected officials. It seems that we hear more about the "bad" politicians than we do the good ones. To me, the majority of politicians are not bad because I believe they all truly want to improve something. The problem many politicians run into is that they either can't produce what they promised, making them ineffective, or they reversed what they promised, making them lose credibility.

My political philosophy is quite simple - listen to whom you serve, be honest and work hard on getting results. No special strategies, no financial expertise, no broken promises. The statement is simple, however the practice is not.

It takes a special person, maybe a little different, to perform the task of serving one's community year-in and year-out. There's a lot of heart and compassion. Throw in loyalty and pride. It's something that the "old timers" would appreciate - no frills, just hard work and sweat.

It's not about how many promises one can make, or having the longest list of accomplishments, or even displaying the most signs - although one would think so. For me, it's simply about continuing to serve my community as best as I can - with hard work and compassion.

I've listened. I've been honest. I've worked hard. I've gotten results. I've cared. I want to continue to be San Bruno's public servant.

Please vote to re-elect Ken Ibarra.
