REJECT DEVELOPMENT OF RED HILL OPEN SPACE.

By Ford Greene

Candidate for Member, Town Council; Town of San Anselmo

This information is provided by the candidate
Officials are making decisions that generate unreasonable risk, waste civic resources of staff time, cost money and generate further intolerable traffic conditions on Sir Francis Drake. They support two major developments between The Hub and Red Hill Shopping Center.
Red Hill Sports Complex Behind Safeway

The San Anselmo General Plan adopted in 1989 designated the field behind Safeway, which for years has been used as a dog park, "Open Space."

Even though our Town does not own the property and will make little money from the development, if the project goes through the Town will both manage the complex and have legal liability for it. Worse yet, if the Ross Valley School District, the property owner, decides to reopen, it can legally assert control over the entire area, all improvements included!

The Town says it is broke. But it volunteers over $50,000 of staff time to promote the project anyway.

Red Hill Commercial Development.

In the little stand of acacia and eucalyptus trees just west of the steep road going to Marchant-Chapman Real Estate Office, the Town has scheduled another development.

Even though in the winter of 1967, just after another commercial development on Red Hill was completed, there was a massive landslide, the Town is supporting a 9500 square foot commercial development that will also include 4 condominiums. The project includes the excavation of 20,000 yards of dirt from the bottom of Red Hill with an associated 110 dump truck loads per day.

SAVE OPEN SPACE AND STOP BEING FURTHER SLAMMED BY GRIDLOCK AT THE HUB
