Town Officials have spent excessive amounts of money and resources on singling out Ford Greene for his Freedom Sign at The Hub. Yet these officials allow dozens of other claimed sign violations to go unchallenged.Before Greene ever hoisted a sign in 2003, the Town claimed to be revising its Sign Ordinance. It has never completed such revisions. Recently, because the Peace Center had submitted plans to have internationally renowned muralist Susan Cervantes paint a Peace Mural on Greene's building, the Town Council passed an "urgency ordinance" for the purpose of stopping the Peace Mural. The Hub is not the loveliest and the Peace Mural will brighten up gridlock, the same way the Freedom Sign does. |
