Proud to Serve as Your Mayor

By Tony M. Ferrara

Candidate for Mayor; City of Arroyo Grande

"May you look back on the past with as much pleasure as you look forward to the future" --Paul Dickson
This quotation characterizes my two years of service as your Mayor. The goals we began with in 2002 have been achieved, planned for, or addressed in a manner consistent with the capability of City resources. I ran for office to protect our prime agricultural lands from runaway development. Mission accomplished! I wanted to begin the redevelopment of Grand Avenue to promote better economic growth in this sector of the City. Mission accomplished! I wanted to ensure that the Village of Arroyo Grande remained historic through the development of clear and concise design guidelines. Mission accomplished! I wanted to provide for senior affordable housing with senior centers available for community-wide senior programs. Mission accomplished! I wanted to initiate policies to ensure "workforce" housing projects were undertaken. Mission accomplished! I wanted to promote better relations with our neighboring jurisdictions and look for ways to share municipal services. Mission accomplished! I wanted to ensure that our City Council conducted itself with professionalism and respect, not only for fellow Councilmembers but for the community-at-large. Mission accomplished!

I commend every member of the City Council and our wonderful City Staff. Without them, none of the individual goals I hoped to achieve in my two years as Mayor, would have been realized. Working together, the City wins!
