Why Elect Me?

By Steve Hunyar

Candidate for Board Member; Alpine Union School District; Unexpired Short Term

Why I Would be Honored to Serve You and Your Children
"Kids 1st" -- that has been my motto from day one.

My commitment to our schools stems from the fact that I have two 3rd graders who will be in this district for many years to come. My wife and I have been dedicated parents and major advocates of Alpine's schools. Linda is a Board Member of the PTA and on the Shadow Hills School Site Council. She has volunteered a day a week in the classroom since day 1 of our children's education. We are committed to making the education the highest quality possible.

I am not a politician and this is my first attempt at an elected office. I have no political aspirations beyond the school district. My mission is to help develop the vision for our schools and bring fresh and innovative ideas into the mix.

My platform has steadfastly been centered on Safety, Academics, and Communication. These were the major concerns of the parents who asked me to consider running as a Board Trustee. In addition to these points, I have a number of ideas on how to increase revenues and reduce our reliance on the State for all of our funding.

Trustee is the title given to the individuals on the Alpine Union School District Board. You have my personal assurance that I will honor that title and serve with the distinction it deserves.

My background, vision, and consensus building capabilities are the reason I am endorsed by:

Dianne Jacob (San Diego County Supervisor and Chairwoman)

Bob Watkins (San Diego County Board of Education Vice President and Alpine Resident)

Ron Nehring (GUHSD Trustee, President of the Republican Party of San Diego County and Crest Resident)

Mark Price (President of the Alpine Union School District and President of the Alpine Planning Group)

Many other noteworthy local individuals, and organizations.
