My Qualifications

By Steve Hunyar

Candidate for Board Member; Alpine Union School District; Unexpired Short Term

Why Trust Me With this Position?
I am President of E.D.G Enterprises Inc. which offers global Warehouse Management Software solutions. I am also the Volunatary President of Proactive Network Against Substance Abuse (PRONASA), a non-profit organization designed to raise the level of awareness of our youth and adults in the area of substance abuse and narcotic identification. We work with Alpine resident Mark Grant (former Padre and current Padres commentator) in providing county-wide drug awareness and workplace violence education programs. PRONASA has been active in Alpine by providing multiple presentations to our local schools, and will continue to provide additional education to the district and parents.

Prior to working with both companies, I worked for General Dynamics Space Systems Division in Kearny Mesa. As an engineer, I worked closely with NASA personnel during numerous successful unmanned space flight missions. During my tenure in management on the same programs, I worked with hundred million dollar budgets. I have a keen understanding of getting a job done (no matter how large) and the corresponding financial pressures and implications of maintaining budgets. Of course, I also enjoy being in the forefront of technology in everything I do.

Politically, I am a conservative and a registered Republican. I have never missed a vote in my life. My friends will all tell you that I am extremely plain spoken and 'what you see is what you get'. I do not believe in political expediency, and am firmly against hidden agendas. I am a major proponent of providing an atmosphere which is conducive to forward thinking and open communications between ALL parties.

I am a member of the PTA. My wife is a Board Member of the Shadow Hills PTA, and a member of the School Site Council at Shadow Hills. She also volunteers one day a week in the classroom. We are both deeply committed to increasing and enhancing the quality of education in our schools.

I have a knack for "getting things done". No obstacle is too large. I believe there is no higher calling than being on a school board and am honored to be considered for serving the children and parents of our community. I am committed to making the Alpine School District friendlier and more available to its constituency.

I would be honored to serve and grateful for your vote.
