CANDIDATE INFORMATION

EDUCATION: BA in Education, Central Washington State University, Med San Jose State University and Central Washington State University, Doctoral Degree (EdD) earned at Brigham Young University.

CAREER: 41 years in public education, 19 years, Superintendent of the Orcutt School District, Consultant to surrounding school districts and State Department of Education, School site negotiator for Buellton School District, Co-owner of Studio 23 in Santa Maria, Adjunct Professor, Chapman University.

COMMUNITY: Former Member Board of Directors Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce (8 years), Santa Maria Noon-time Kiwanis member since 1982, Past President and presently member Board of Drectors, Industry Education Council (co-founder) organization promotes business partnerships with education, Santa Maria Youth Soccer (co-founder).

FAMILY: Married to Inge Svanborg Garvin, Four grown children and stepchildren who attended/will attend Santa Maria public high schools.
