Donald Francis Hansen, Jr. was born April 7, 1972 in Phoenix, Arizona. He grew up in the Valley of the Sun in the American family tradition. His father worked at a local tire wholesale company while his mother tended daily to the needs of Don and his younger brother Brian and the family home.

Upon graduation from high school, Don was accepted to the University of Southern California. College seemed like the perfect time to see new places, and the lure of Southern California was extremely appealing. With USC in his sights, he moved from Arizona and began his tenure as a loyal Trojan. In his senior year, Don served as USC Student Senate President and was inducted into USC's oldest honorary societies. He still remains an active member of the USC alumni, serving as prior chair of local alumni club, co-chair of the reunion committee and a Cardinal and Gold sponsor of USC athletics.

Don arrived in Huntington Beach when he was offered a position at an up and coming commercial finance company in Irvine. Balboa Capital Corporation had recently been recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fasted growing companies in the United States. The firm provides equipment financing to early stage entrepreneurial businesses, and Don enjoyed working with business owners to find financial solutions to help them grow their business. Today, Don serves as the Vice President of the Commercial Finance Division of Balboa Capital Corporation. This growth division of the company finances large middle-market based transactions in excess of $500,000.

Don was appointed to the Public Works Commission by Mayor Cathy Green in 2002, and then appointed to the Finance Board where he currently serves the city in reviewing financial policies and reports.

Don is married to the former Sara Abigail Crawford, and the couple has a lovely young daughter Bailey Elizabeth Hansen. The Hansen family will be growing in December with the arrival of a new baby boy. He is an active member of the Huntington Beach Rotary Club, a civic minded service club, and a parishioner of St. Simon and Jude Church.
