Occupation

Brian Polejes has worked as Senior Field Representative for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 535 since Fall 2001. In that position, he represents San Diego County social services workers in collective bargaining and individually. During his tenure, Brian has led SEIU Local 535 to become one of the leading political unions in San Diego campaigns.

Brian worked as an Emergency Response Child Protective Worker for San Diego County from Spring 1998 to Fall 2001 and was a rank and file leader in his union during this period.

Community Involvement

Brian has been a leader in labor, gay, and the progressive community at large. Besides being a delegate to the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, he is Chair of the San Diego Area Chapter of Pride at Work, the LGBT constituency group of organized labor, as well as a member of the national board. He is a past board member and is still active in the San Diego Democratic Club and is also a member of the We The People, Uptown, Point Loma, and a number of other Democratic Clubs. Brian serves as Vice Chair for Californians for Progressive Action, a San Diego-based political action committee dedicated to electing progressive candidates.
