Candidate for
Board Member; Coastside County Water District; 2 Year Term

The MidCoast has been my home since 1980. I graduated from Burlingame High School, and from the University of California Davis, obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering. I have lived in Moss Beach, El Granada, and currently Judy and I live in town. I have worked as an Engineering Designer, Construction Inspector, Construction Manager, and am now Resident Engineer for various improvement/ maintenance projects at SFO.

I am a Certified Mediator in California, and have a wide background in dispute resolution & problem solving in the fields of engineering, construction & insurance claims using Alternate Dispute Resolution techniques: Arbitration, Mediation, and Negotiation. I also volunteer for several community mediation groups - notably the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, the County Mediation Program, and the County Small Claims Court.

I am an initial elected member of the MidCoast Community Council and served the Community for two terms, having been active in all the major committees: Park & Rec, Streets, Traffic, Planning, Facilities, Finance - treasurer, and I was Chair the year Devil's Slide slid.

Currently I am a board member of MidCoast ParkLands - MPL, a local non-profit that maintains and operates Quarry Park in El Granada - currently I serve as treasurer.

I have served the City as the MidCoast Council liaison for the PAC of the General Plan Revision; am a member of the Bikeways Committee, and currently serve on the Library Task Force - a joint effort of the City and the County.

I been a regular attendee at local meetings: Coastside County Water District, HMB City Council, MidCoast Council, Granada Sanitary District, Save Our Shores, MidPen Regional Open Space District, - in most instances, as the MidCoast Television- MCTV- Producer / Director for the particular event.

I believe that public access to our decision makers is the cornerstone of our democracy.

In 2001 the voters elected me to a four year term as a Director of CCWD. A year ago in the fall of 2002, the District had an opening for the position of District Engineer/ Superintendent and I had a very hard decision to make. I weighed the opportunity to work full time in my neighborhood, our Community, at a job that sounded great, a job that satisfied my professional goals, paid sufficiently, and allowed me to work in Town. I understood, and am very grateful for the trust the public vested in me during the recently completed election. Weighing all this, I made a very hard decision - that I must resign from the Board so I could be considered. After a long review/ interview process, while I made the short list, I was not selected for the position. Darn.

I pledge to work for all our Community and our environment, not developers, not special interests.
