Smart Voter Official Statement for Sue Smith

Candidate for
Board Member; Peninsula Health Care District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

SUE SMITH Age: 69

Occupation: Retired CPA /Incumbent

Education and Qualifications:

This is a critical time for our community. We have a promise from Mills-Peninsula to build a new $351-million state-of-the-art hospital for the District at no cost to the taxpayers. More than ever, we need a cohesive Board with the vision to look beyond personal and special interests to protect community health care access.

I am one of five District Board members, but one of only two without conflict who can actually vote to ensure that we rebuild our hospital. Please re-elect me so that I can continue to be your active and voting representative. I am currently serving on the District's negotiating committee and we are close to reaching an agreement to save our hospital. I need your continued support to achieve the result that we all want - a new hospital for the community.

My experience on the Board and in financial matters brings expertise and leadership that can benefit the community. New seismic standards mandate that our hospital be replaced by 2013. If we are to continue to have an acute care hospital, we need to work expeditiously to see that this happens.

I respectfully ask for your vote to re-elect me to the Peninsula Health Care District Board.

/s/ Sue Smith
