LAURA LINKLETTER RICH

Education and Qualifications:

Education of our children is the most important task for a community. I ran for the board four years ago because I wanted to support the district in improving the education being offered.

I have been honored to be a member of a school board which passed a parcel tax that made a significant difference in our ability to educate an increasingly diverse student body; created an annual report to the community, answering a request to be more accountable; supported the creation of the Mid-Peninsula Teachers Institute which will offer internal teacher training in a joint effort with three other districts; oversaw the successful completion of the 1995 bond to renovate all four schools in the district; and hired a new superintendent.

As President of the San Mateo County School Board Association, I am looking forward to keeping Menlo Park a driving force for change in the county as well as locally.

Communities are judged by the quality of their schools. I am proud of the work the board has done to improve the education of our children and to hold ourselves accountable to the community. I would like the opportunity to continue the work we have started.
