Public Safety

By Richard "Rich" Leyner

Candidate for Councilmember; Proposed City of San Fernando Valley; District 13

This information is provided by the candidate
Increase police presence, modernize facilities and plan for a separte police department for the new city.
First we would contract with the city of Los Angeles to avoid any break in services. We would require that the 2,000 police officers that we currently pay, be deployed to the Valley. At the present time we pay for 2,000 officers and have the services of approximately 1,400.

The next goal would be to emplement a plan to create our own police force.

1. Selecting a Chief of Police from the ranks of the Officers that served with the LAPD.

2. The Officers and the rank and file serving the Valley would be given first opportunity of becoming members of the New City Department.

3. To provide facilities that would adquately service the needs of our Police Force and the community.

4. Create a feeling of pride, loyality and respect, between the community and it's men in blue.
