COUNCIL ACCOMPLISHMENTS & FUTURE OBJECTIVES

As your councilwoman and three-time mayor I have worked to enhance the quality of life for every citizen. With this objective, I hastened the conversion of the 32-acre dump-site and opened the millennium's driving-range and magnificent soccer complex. Unique partnerships between the city and high school together with a generous donor, produced a world-class community swim-center. I supported the thriving hotel and business environment, spear-headed the Broadway/Burlingame streetscape projects and monitored city expenditures and investments.

Though the 90's brought Burlingame unparalleled prosperity, pressing quality - of- life issues remain to be addressed :

To that end I will :

  • Support the design-review process that I initiated to protect the texture of our neighborhoods and create lovely homes.
  • Update the Specific Area Plan to encourage moderate-cost first homes for our own children.
  • Design a financial strategy to renovate the city-wide water and sewer lines ; hasten the replacement of our antiquated 1947 Broadway Overpass and improve traffic circulation across the tracks.
  • Prepare a community center master-plan to serve all, from the youngest to the oldest among us.
  • Protect our passive tranquil areas of Washington Park as well as all our neighborhood parks.

With your vote, I will continue responsiveness, fairness, prime service from every city department and protection of our beautiful Burlingame's best interests locally and regionally.

I respectfully request your vote for a proven leader who knows how to get things done.

I believe qualities that are unique to me:

  • I am independent and listen to a lot of people on any one issue before making up my mind and voting on an issue.
  • I am a centrist who avoids extreme positions.
  • I am a protector of the little man - who may not be too comfortable with bureaucracy.
  • I have time to devote and I enjoy doing that. I think analytically and that helps in all discussions.
  • I love the city and its people. And I enjoy the challenges of every day.
