Putting People's Needs First

By Rick Ochsenhirt

Candidate for Councilmember; City of South San Francisco

This information is provided by the candidate
Making our community a better place to live.
Quality of life services are a critical part of what makes a community a good place to live. Safe, attractive neighborhoods have well maintained streets and parks, good lighting, fast emergency service response and dependable water, garbage and cable service combine to make a desirable community.

Unfortunately, tragic recent events make us aware that no city has a disaster plan that could cope with a crisis similar to those of September 11th. Yet, we are located just a stone's throw from one of the world's largest and busiest airports. I believe it is imperative that we put in place a realistic disaster plan and the personnel training that it will require to carry it out. I will provide the work, energy and leadership to make that happen.

I will also constantly strive to maintain, improve and update existing systems, to deliver the best results today and plan for a continuance of excellence for the future.
