If elected I will make sure that the waste disposal system is safe. In the past there has been wet weather overflow and odor emanating near Obispo and Alhambra. Both of these problems are being worked on but will still be a concern for the new board.

Resolution 139 was passed by the GSD board to deny sewer connections on sub-standard lots. Standard lots are 5000 sq. ft. Sub-standard lots are typically half that size. I will enforce 139 when it is reasonable to do so because I believe building on sub-standard lots lowers property values and alters the character of the neighborhood.

I have a strong interest in preserving open space and parks. I am currently involved in an effort to convert the GSD to a Community Service District with Park and Rec powers. This will give El Granada local control over parks and is our best hope of acquiring and operating the Burnham strip in front of El Granada. We also hope to acquire some of the sub-standard lots as pocket parks. Pocket parks spread around El Granada could provide a place for children to play close to home. Our boulevards are also in need of maintenance with old trees that are in danger of falling in a major storm.
