Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Linden Hsu

Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Belmont

Life

I believe in the right of peaceful people to pursue the life they wish to lead so long as they do not infringe upon the equal right of others to do the same.

Property Rights

The right to own and use property is an institution which promotes personal responsibility and wealth creation. Cities need to protect people's property rights and do so for all property owners (not just for those who have already developed their property).

Safety

Public safety is the most important service a city can provide. Proper police and fire protection should take priority over other services.

Taxes and Fiscal Responsibility

Cities need to be fiscally responsible. In general, government does not create wealth, so the resources (money) it uses come from the hard-working taxpayers. Public officials need to remember that it is not the government's money. It belongs to the taxpayers. Every effort must be made to spend that money wisely.
