Vision For Belmont

By Linden Hsu

Candidate for Councilmember; City of Belmont

This information is provided by the candidate
The following gives more details regarding my goals for Belmont.
I am running for City Council because I would like to serve the community. I believe that Belmont residents want someone who will work to protect individual liberty and be a watchdog against government waste. My priorities are to:

Protect people's rights both personal and property by:

  • Expediting construction of police facilities
  • Working with groups to improve pedestrian safety
  • Being cautious with ordinances affecting property use

Promote volunteering and community involvement before government intervention by:
  • Publicizing one volunteer org/charity a month

Increase voter participation and civic involvement by:
  • Avoiding holding elections during odd times
  • Promoting election reform

I believe that taxpayer money and staff/Council effort should be allocated first to public safety (including police and fire protection) before aesthetics or entertainment. Other infrastructure such as roads and sewers should also be high priorities.

I will focus my efforts on the key issues listed above. When people/cities spread themselves too thin in terms of trying to do too much (in attempt to please special interests), the important and often dull items frequently get neglected.

I would like to see a safe and efficient Belmont. Where possible, I want to harness the power of free markets and motivated volunteers to best serve Belmont residents.

When you vote this November 6th, please vote for Linden Hsu, a vote for individual liberty, personal responsibility, and limited yet effective and efficient government.
