Highlights of My First Two Terms

By Robert H. Griffin

Candidate for Board Member; San Mateo Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I have a demonstrated track record of maintaining both high academic standards and governing with fiscal responsibility.
During my tenure on the board I have taken a balanced approach to governing the District. I have been a good listener and have always acted in the best interest of the students, taxpayers and employees of the District.

I have demonstrated fiscal responsibility. We operate on a balanced budget. Under my guidance the District finaces are the best they have ever been.

I supported the bond measure which the voting public passed, and feel that it is important to see that this program is properly completed. My experience in construction and accounting and finance has been invaluable to the District. I intend to see that all the bond proceeds are both legally and wisely spent.

I supported the higher graduation requirements that the District is implementing. We have increased the credits required to graduate. I am committed to higher standards for all students, particularly in the area of language arts and mathematics.

I believe that all cities in the District should both be actively involved in the boundary study to insure that the everyone is heard. I was not satisfied with the original recommendations and voted to study the issue further to arrive at the best possible solution. The District is in the process of reaching out to all the communities to get your input so that we develop the best possible solution for all concerned.

Since I have been on the Board our relationships with all the cities in the District have improved. I have been personally involved in the development of joint-use agreements, which have led to cooperation between the District and its member cities. Because of this cooperation we have been able to leverage your tax dollars by jointly constructing facilities.

I have promoted school safety as an important issue and we have some of the safest schools in the County. We extensively cooperate with all the local law enforcement agencies and have annual disaster and safety drills.

I believe that it is important for me to be re-elected to finish many of these important initiatives.
