Balancing Community Development with Economic Development Responsible Communications

By Robert A. Alexander

Candidate for Council Member; City of East Palo Alto

This information is provided by the candidate
East Palo Alto has not balanced economic development with consideration for community development needs. We can improve integrity of management and elected officials as well as give citizens a voice by providing information. I propose a newsletter, web site and video taping of council meetings.
East Palo Alto has focused it attention on economic development without considering community development and neighborhood needs.

If the judgments of the people are to be sound, they will be so because they have the largest possible amount of information on which to base those judgments.

The lack of a newspaper, newsletter, web site and video taped council meeting has lead to a lack of integrity of management and elected officials. Citizens need to be informed about: traffic, flooding, railroad, emergency management, joint powers, city services, and economic development. City government needs to be accessible to residents.
