Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Grant Joint Union High School District

Hello and thank you for visiting me.

I am a parent with two children who have attended Grant schools for over 6 years. We moved from Lisle, Illinois, and settled down here in the Sacramento area in July, 1991. My daughter graduated from a Grant district high school this past June, and my son is a Junior in a Grant High School.

Since 1987, I have been very involved in the educational system as a Parent Volunteer, PTA President, Vice President, Secretary, and school Newsletter Editor. I have been a Computer Teacher since 1987 when my daughter entered Kindergarten. I have also served on many committees as a member and an officer, ie. the RLHS Safety Task Force Committee, Citizen Advocates for Safe School Environments, Citizens Advisory Council, Fundraising Committees, etc.

Professionally, I am currently managing the offices at Advanced Security Institute in West Sacramento, and also teach some of the security classes. At ASI, we teach all aspects of becoming a security guard, managing security offices, or becoming a Private Investigator. I, myself, graduated from ASI's Investigative Sciences Program in January 1999 and was hired by Golden State Investigations in April, 1999.

Even though I do work for a living, I still have attended and video recorded the Grant Board meetings monthly for the past 3 1/2 years, and I am very well aware of the happenings of the district and the irresponsible upper management taking place. I have seen "first hand" how the majority of the current Board Members do not expect accountability from top administration and management, and how they discourage community input and public comments. I want to see the parents, school staff, and community always welcomed at the meetings, and I want to hear any and all input and ideas. With me on the board you will have someone you can call confidentially (without fear of retaliation), and who will listen - and speak up for YOU!
