Candidate for
Mayor; City of California City

Fairness and professionalism in our City Council. Where do we start? All of us have watched at one time or another where our current mayor has laughted at people, degraded them and even went so far as to tell one man his rights only went as far as the mayors nose. How can we as citizens accept this type of action by our first citizen? This is the person who represents the thoughts and ideas of our community. Our new Mayor is going to have to be a person who will have the time and energy to give to a growing city. We have all heard of how California City is getting in new businesses and how others are expanding. More than ever we are going to need a mayor who can go to our of town meeting, who can spend time on the road for the betterment of the city. Are there going to be times when the mayor is going to have to deligate someone else? Of Course. As it stands now, according to City Hall, the majority of out of town meetings are attended by our Vice-Mayor. I am sure he has done a good job but this is an area our Mayor was elected for. It is time we have a mayor who will do what they elected for instead of having someone else do it for them. Our new Mayor must have time to research each and every item presented before the council.
Our mayor is going to have to stop depending on staff to do all the research, then notify him as to what is happening, this is the Mayors job to know. Staff is an important part of gathering information but not the only one.

Slowly our city is growing. Not everyone wants big industry, I don't want big industry. I would like to see smaller quality industry come into our city. Places which will hire 20 to 50 people. Places which will not eat up our air quality and most important, a business which will pay their own way. These are the requirements we need in new businesses. We need to expand our growth ideas to an area further than the airport. I firmly believe what Tom has done at the airport has been fantastic but we need to look beyond the airport. We need to start to lay out plans for future growth.
