LEADERSHIP

The Fresno School Board must display dynamic, courageous leadership. This includes being proactive in setting the agenda for the future of our school, the Fresno Unified School District, rather than waiting for the agenda to be set by others. The Fresno Unified School District School Board must not continue to hide behind exhaustive and expensive studies to avoid the problems facing our schools, but must be willing to make the tough decisions in order to assure the needs of all children are met.

I will provide the kind of leadership necessary to guide the Fresno Unified School District for the future. I will advance an agenda for quality education for every child in our public schools and lobby at the local, state, and federal level where the concerns of children are at stake. I will lead the Board into making tough decisions regarding academic standards, personnel, summer school, building construction, and other issues the Board will face in the next few years. I will hold people accountable for a vision that creates an environment where all children are prepared for their future. Finally, I will be a catalyst to enable Board members to work together as a functioning School Board.
