Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Hal Brent Meyers

Candidate for
United States Representative; District 25

This information is provided by the candidate

I am a candidate that believes in and will follow the Constitution of the United States.

I am a strong believer in the rights set forth in the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. I will work for and strive to bring sanity back to this Amendment. I will protect our right to bear arms.

It is time to bring moral values, ethics, honesty and dignity back to the United States Government. As your elected member of the US House of Representatives it will be my goal to oppose all efforts that violate the ideals, philosophy and wishes of the Founding Fathers of this Great Country.

I will work to put the People back in control of the Government. Not the Government in control of the People as we see today.

WE NEED TAX RELIEF AND REFORM. We must eliminate the marriage and death tax penalties. As taxpayers of this Country we deserve to manage our own lives. We should not be forced to pay higher taxes just to support the whims of the politicians. The people have the right to control their finances and financial destiny, not the US Government.

Our School and Education System is deplorable as shown by these recent headlines in the Daily News and the Antelope Valley Press:
"AV schools perform poorly in state rankings"
"Most local districts below state average"
"LAUSD SCHOOL: - 82% Rank below state average - 96% Fail to meet state goal"

I will work to improve the education system of this Country and the Twenty-fifth District. We need to give education control back to the Parents, Teachers, Local School Districts and the State. Not the Bureaucrats in Washington DC.

I will work to bring Defense Contracts back to the Antelope and San Fernando Valleys and Southern California. Southern California was once the Defense Capital of the United States and should be again.

We all have parents and friends that are Senior Citizens and need their Social Security to live. I will work to guarantee that all Senior Citizens on Social Security, and all people that have paid into Social Security will continue to receive and have their benefits for as long as they live. I also strongly believe in letting individuals make their own decisions on how to save for retirement. In this District we have numerous organizations that have exceptional retirement plans that do not include Social Security. Why shouldn't we all have the same opportunity?

I am a strong believer in individual rights and will oppose all legislation that will infringe on these rights.

I will support the right of religious freedom for every citizen, free from Government interference.

Remember when it was wrong to burn the Flag of the United States and advocate the violent overthrow of the United States Government? Now it's just free speech. I still believe that the Flag should be protected and wanting to overthrow the Government should be considered treason.

It's time to get the military back to its proper readiness state. It's time to bring our troops home from senseless campaigns that keep them in harms way and endanger their lives. It's time to get them off food stamps. The personnel of the US Armed Forces are members of the world's greatest Armed forces. They are willing to put their lives on the line for the defense of this country. They are not a member of a Liberal Social Feel Good Experiment.
