The primary role of the community colleges is to serve students and not special interests. The primary role of the community colleges is to serve their students and not special interests. As it presently stands, the faculty union and the classified unions provide the money and the manpower to make sure that the candidates they support get elected who will in turn give them the money and benefits that they seek. This is like the fox guarding the hen house. We need to make sure that the trustees we elect understand that everything they do is about making sure that the students they serve reach their full potential. The unions have a role to play but so do other stakeholders like the taxpayers and the business community. Those trustees who understand their primary role are the ones who should be elected. |
