Supervisor Mark Farrell represents District 2 in San Francisco, which includes the Presidio, Marina, Cow Hollow, Pacific Heights, Presidio Heights, Anza Vista, Laurel Heights, Jordan Park, the Lake Street corridor, Sea Cliff and parts of Russian Hill.

Elected in November 2010, Supervisor Farrell serves as Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, as a Member of the City and School District Committee, as a Member of the Transportation Authority, as a Member of the Transportation Authority's Finance Committee, as a Member of the State Legislation Committee, as a Member of the Health Service System Board, as a Mayoral appointee to the League of California Cities, and on the Department of Emergency Management Disaster Council.

Supervisor Farrell's legislative priorities include advancing policies and projects that boost local economic development, ensure neighborhood vitality, and enhance and focus on public safety and quality of life issues that affect all San Franciscans. Since his election, he has ushered through a unanimously supported City budget that reflects San Francisco values and priorities, including an additional $94 million in funding for affordable housing, reformed the way San Francisco pays for retiree health care benefits, thus solving a $4.4 billion unfunded liability and passed small business tax credit legislation, so that our City's small businesses could hire more employees and create more local jobs.

To help keep families in San Francisco, Supervisor Farrell created the Shared Schoolyards Project which opens public schoolyards on the weekends to create more open space and foster a greater sense of community. To date, there are 41 public schoolyards open on weekends with more on the horizon.

With record low staffing levels in our fire and police departments, Supervisor Farrell has secured funding for five new fire and police academies to get more officers and fire fighters onto our streets and into our neighborhoods to enhance public safety citywide. To help close the digital divide that separates many San Francisco neighborhoods and residents, Supervisor Farrell brought a broad coalition together to create "Free Wi-fi" in our city parks, plazas and open spaces and is working to expand online access to all communities across our city.
