At the local level I believe it's important to have a direct line to those who represent you. Candidates or office holders are beholden to those who elected them first and foremost, we work for you and are your servants.

On the other side of that, we are not, and I believe should not be beholden to special organizations and groups or unions before the voters. It is becoming increasingly difficult for candidates to say and mean they are looking out for your best interest first when a group or union has spent thousands of dollars on a candidates campaign to see that they are elected. These groups are in essence electing their own managers, who will in turn vote on these same folks, wages, benefits, and pensions. Do you see the conflict of interest.

We need representatives who are not bought and paid for, but are honestly looking out for those they are elected to serve... You the tax payer, who has a vested interest in seeing that your tax dollars are spent wisely and not as someones payback.
